Abstract submission

First, prepare your abstract using the templates at the end of this page, following the instructions below and in the templates, and generate a PDF file. Then click on the link below, create an account if you don't have one already, click on "Create new abstract" and follow the instructions at the top of the page that appears.

Abstract submission: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/IBAPIXE2025 (new deadline: May 10th).

Templates for abstract submission can be downloaded in both LaTeX and MS-Word formats; see the bottom of this page.  Not respecting the template may result in a rejection of the abstract.

  • It must fit in one (1) US Letter (8.5" x 11") page with 1" (2.54 cm) margins all around.
  • The title should be typed in 12 pt boldface Times New Roman or compatible font and centered at the top of the page.
  • The title is followed by the author list, which should be in 10 pt Times New Roman or compatible font. The name of the presenting person should be underlined.
  • The author list is followed by the affiliation(s) also in 10 pt Times New Roman or compatible font, and in italic. If the authors do not share the exact same affiliation(s), use superscript numbers to relate each affiliation to its author(s).
  • On the next line, write the email address of the corresponding author, identified by an asterisk (“*”).
  • The email address is followed by a blank line.
  • The body of the abstract, in 10 pt Times New Roman or compatible font, should be in one-column format. It can include equations and references at the bottom.
  • The body can also include one (1) single-panel figure with its caption. It should not overlap the top section (title, authors, affiliations and space line) nor the references, and should remain within margins. As the abstracts will be distributed electronically, it can be a color figure. When the figure consists of lines and symbols rather than an image, please try to generate the figure using vector graphics (e.g. PDF, EPS, SVG) rather than JPEG, before including it in the abstract. The figure should include a caption with a figure number in the caption, and the text should refer to the figure number.
  • The references, if any, should follow the Nucl. Instrum. Meth. convention with numbers in brackets.
  • Please do NOT add a page number.

The file must then be converted into a PDF with a maximum file size of 1 Mb for submission. Before submitting it, check that the PDF looks as desired.  Other details can be found in the templates.

Abstract evaluation and oral/poster selection

Members of the Programme Committee will score the submitted abstract and make recommendations to the local organizing committee who will make the final selection of oral and poster presentations. Authors will receive a notification whether their abstract is considered for an oral presentation, a poster, or not considered of sufficient scientific interest for the IBA•PIXE community.

Proceedings

The  proceedings is anticipated to be published as a special virtual issue of Nucl.  Instrum. Meth. B (NIMB). This will be free of charge for the authors,  and no printed version of the proceedings will be produced. The  submitted manuscripts will go through the regular paper peer-review  process of NIMB. Only the manuscript of those who do present their work  in person (invited, oral or poster presentation) at  IBA•PIXE 2025 will  be considered for publication. There will be page limits and other  constraints;  stay tuned.
